Las Gaviotas Rental Property Location

Welcome to your home away from home!

We hope you can discover and appreciate the beauty of the Baja Coast in this Oceanfront.  Where else can you take in healing ocean air and majestic views of the bay while watching world class surfing.

I fell in love with Baja many years ago on a surf trip with friends.  Over the years, life back in the US became hectic and I was soon caught up in the typical rat race of career, family, nest building etc.  Roughly 5 years ago, I took a trip with friends to Gaviotas and completely fell in love again with Mexico.  The Mexican family, the food, the relaxed chill, and of course the epic surf.  I didn’t want to return home to the crowds, traffic, and a sense that in the US we had lost many freedoms, and life was moving towards a more corporate, regulated, money focused society.  We noticed a for sale sign on the window of 39 Picudas and I made the call..  Met with the local Real Estate agent Max who has become a close friend.  Sat on the couch, discussed the price,  and I just couldn’t resist taking the plunge not knowing how it was all going to happen in a foreign country.  History was made and I have absolutely no regrets.  The home was completely and professionally remodeled by a respected local designer/artist.  There was a tree in the patio where the table is.  The “Pool” was added to avoid the large party crowds in the community tub.  Each tile and color scheme was chosen to remain authentic to the culture.  You will not find a more beautiful and authentic place.  You may also note that the home is wider than most on the boardwalk.  Rare and special to have a bedroom on the ocean to listen to the waves at night.  You will  feel like you’re on a Ocean cruise line while relaxing on the lounge chairs sipping Tequila and watching the world class waves and exceptional surfers who seek them out.

Some of our favorite spots to enjoy are listed here.  I hope you can get to see some of them:

  • Collectivo Surf; walk across the street to great sushi and music on weekends
  • Ollies Pizza and Gelato; Walk a block north and you won’t find better pizza in the US and the gelato is to die for
  • Marea Alta; couple hundred yards south of Gaviotas on the free road; you’ll enjoy the best Clam Chowder and Hamburger you will eat, along with many fish dishes.  Father of the owner is a well-known top chef in Mexicali
  • Susana’s in downtown Rosarito; I’m drooling thinking about it
  • Splash;  couple miles south or Prima Tapia. Recommend the new outdoor patios
  • The Lighthouse and La Fonda
  • If your into fun Karaoke check out Charlies place; a live drummer while the crowd sings to a projected video
  • Valle de Guadalupe; 45 min drive south thru beautiful rolling hills.  The Napa Valley of Mexico.  Finca de Altazano is a fav but there are over 100 world class wineries; Bruma, Cielo, Vena Cava, Deckmans.....

Too many places to list here...  please enjoy our little home and slice of  paradise..
